SoHo Dragon represents an investment bank with offices in New York, NY that needs to hire a Murex Business Analyst.


  • The B/A has the primary responsibility to gather, analyze, document, and validate the needs of the business stakeholders.
  • The Business Analyst serves as the principal conduit for managing system requirements between the business and the software development team throughout the duration of a project.
  • The primary responsibilities of the Business Analyst include:
  • Elicit business requirements from business users and subject matter experts.
  • Define and document requirements
  • Analyze and prioritize requirements
  • Write functional specifications
  • Model the requirements/specifications
  • Perform business process design in conjunction with operations teams
  • Lead requirements validation and traceability analysis
  • Manage scope and requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead development of common standards and tools
  • Assists in operational rollout and support.

The preferred candidate should possess the following:

  • Minimum of 12 years experience within a financial services firm
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • A team player who works well with technical and non-technical resources
  • Ability to take strategic direction from executive management
  • Initiative
  • Ability to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science/ Financial engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required in OTC derivatives
• 7-10 years of experience in business analysis related to financial products covering Trade Capture/ Trade Processing and Reporting
• 5-8 years of experience in Murex
• Strong proficiency with SQL
• Proficiency in FpML / XML / Murex XML
• Familiarity with testing patterns
• Knowledge of OTC derivative products – Equity Total Return Swaps and Murex or equivalent Systems needed

Desired Skills and Experience:
• Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
• Previous experience designing and implementing new systems and features independently
• Developed market data feeds and feeds to downstream systems for payments, settlements, collateral management
• Understanding of life cycle events around OTC derivatives
• Understanding of Equity Total Return Swaps
• Understanding of regulatory landscape from a developer perspective
• Brings production support experience and can troubleshooting issues under pressure
• Murex Relevant experience and background to analyze user requirements and design develop Murex MxML workflows
• Capital Markets front office domain knowledge asset classes types – Equity Total Report Swaps is required
• Must have experience MxML in Mx 3 or DataMart experience Integration migration or upgrade experience Expertise in designing and implementing workflows and reports in Murex Knowledge
• Develop and troubleshoot SQL queries Unix Shell Scripting Demonstrable experience of working across the full SDLC Strong academic background in business finance engineering mathematics science or technology
• Good understanding of Trade Capture & Trade Processing, Life Cycle Management of trades
• Good understanding of Murex Financial Database and Data Market
• Setting up the reports from Datamart
• Customization and build of user defined fields for trade capture and processing
