SoHo Dragon represents a nonprofit organization that is looking to hire an Application Development Lead / Enterprise Architect.

This is a role for a true leader to directly manage and mentor a team of 5 in-house software developers and supervise the activities of an external software development firm.

  • 100% Remote Work, but professionals located in NYC/ tri-state are preferred.

Duties included but not limited to:

  • Mentor current senior engineer in how to lead a team of engineers and be a lead Architect
  • Keep lights on for business as usual by managing current applications and technology stack
  • Project/Agile Architecture - Responsible for working on high architectural impact projects/sprints
  • Manage designs for multiple projects/sprints concurrently throughout the project life cycle
  • Produce project/sprint architecture designs encapsulated in Systems Architecture Specification documents using industry standard modeling languages and practices
  • Work with business teams to analyze project/sprint requirements as a foundation for architecture designs
  • Develop the strategy and vision for increasing the agility and release cadence for current and future software projects, and lead the software development team in adopting practices to support the strategy
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to Software Developers, including in the web services capabilities of the .Net framework
  • Manage workload and staff resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently and aligned with organization priorities
  • Document information flows, recommend and make changes to optimize data integrations
  • Motivate and develop staff and provide performance feedback on a regular basis.
  • Help manage code repository and to build and deploy new AICES releases and prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
  • Particpate in DB architecture and design, in concert with the DB Management Team
  • Protect operations by designing solutions that meet security standards, and by maintaining confidentiality and documenting application architecture and software code
  • Perform general platform analysis
  • Perform software platform design analysis
  • Produce platform analysis reports for senior management review
  • Maintain the Portfolio and Product Architecture
  • Provide architecture for product(s) or portfolio which supports agile methods
  • New Platform Design/Development
  • Assist in the development of proof of concept prototypes to evaluate products and technologies
  • Participate in the definition of future technology architecture and Technology Strategy
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and capabilities in order to prepare and respond to business needs and expectations.
  • Perform in depth consultation to senior management to ensure applications adhere to World Education Services standards, policies, methodologies and industry best practices
  • Other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline -- Master’s degree preferred!
  • 10 or more years’ experience developing enterprise database applications.
  • 5 or more years’ experience with VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, including the development of Web Services.
  • Strong Leadership skills and record of accomplishment in managing in house and external software development teams and database administrators, and in mentoring software developers.
  • Experienced Enterprise Architect desired – 5+ years
  • Expert knowledge of Windows development using VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, including the web services capabilities of the .Net framework.
  • Expert knowledge Oracle PL/SQL, database application programming using Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Advanced knowledge of Client Server architectures, Service Oriented architectures, and Micro Services architectures.
  • Highly skilled in SDLC and Agile software development, as well as Enterprise Architecture.
  • Knowledge of Integration and Enterprise Service Bus technologies.
  • Knowledgeable of best practices in database administration.
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing software development teams in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Experience managing Database Administration.
  • Experience with report generation using Microsoft Excel, Crystal Reports, Tableau, and SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, TFS
  • Experience in creating complex stored procedures in Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft SQL Server
  • ScrumMaster certification desirable.
  • Experience with C#.Net, WCF, WEB API, Entity Framework, LINQ, Azure SQL Database, Azure Webapps, Classic ASP, desirable
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
